Because theatre can be in-tents! Dress-Up Jam is a freewheeling, grassroots show that’s all about expressing your theatrical spirit!

An interactive street performance inviting children, adults and more well known ‘guest performers’ to enter the tent where their improvisations and goof-arounds are filmed. Costumes and props are available in the tent and you, the audience, are also invited to bring your own.

Dress-Up Jam brings people of different ages and backgrounds together around a fun, creative, performance event. Highlights from the tent will be shared through Twitter, Facebook and Barbarian’s website so an online audience can follow along.

There will also be an opportunity for young and old alike to take part in a workshop where you’ll get to explore performance and costume and let loose your inner performer with the fantastic Barbarian team!

Barbarian Productions is a Wellington based theatre company with a 12 year history of making innovative, original, high quality theatre. It is passionate about creating new forms of theatrical work and inviting the public into their larger than life world.

They make art that is fierce, funny and counter-cultural. They make work inside and outside of theatres, and often work with community groups and untrained actors—people who want their voice to be heard.

Their work ranges from large-scale theatre (Yo Future, White Elephant) to form-twisting community generated shows (Sing It To My Face) and interactive street experiments with an online component (Brides, Help Us Change, Dress-Up Box and Political Cuts).
