Bring us Hutt Groundwater!

Common Ground is calling now for samples of Hutt City groundwater to be deposited in washed two-litre milk bottles at the Dowse Art Museum front desk, where you can book in to have tested, and contribute to Citizens’ Water Map Lab by Julian Priest.

Anyone can fill up a bottle from a Hutt stream, river, well, bore or even puddle. Help us map the waterways! We’re also very keen to hear from people who can organise their whanau or groups to take samples along a set area of waterways to ensure we have the whole water system mapped.

Much thanks to the Dowse Art Museum who last showed Julian’s work ‘Local Time’ in 2012. Help build a new kind of map of water quality. Below is a video of Julian introducing the project.

Any queries you can contact Julian Priest direct at julian@greenbench.org

How do we know if the water is ground water or surface water ie from rain?

Hi Wilma, surface rain counts as groundwater. You are welcome to collect from puddles as well!
